Diatopia ist eine Wortschöpfung, die für einen imaginären Filter oder einen Verfremdungseffekt steht, der über altbekannte Muster gelegt wird. Hier sind es vor allem musikalische Versatzstücke aus Spaghetti Western, italienischen Horror-B-Movies und skandinavischen Psychothrillern, die mit elektronischen Hilfsmitteln überarbeitet und
schließlich dem Dub überantwortet werden. Das Ergebnis ist eine Art psychedelischer, durch Beats und Loops angereicherter Post-Rock. Diatopia wurde von Ronald Hartwig, der früher auch in Bands wie Bicycle Thieves, Trelkovsky und Hugo Race & the True Spirit
aktiv war, ins Leben gerufen. Live präsentiert man sich als Duo mit Werner Leiner am Bass und sporadischen Gästen, ergänzt durch Visuals von mingo.tv.

Michael Dureksecretly obtained his first Dr. Dre tape when he was 9 years old, and was later blown away by the beats of Dre, Cypress Hill, and Eminem records.
His background in classical piano brings the harmonies of Bach and Chopin to the piano roll and synthesizers.
Later in life he began playing with the experimental act “Pas Musique”, ttouring around the world while playing synth and theremin with the likes of Rachel Mason, Philippe Petit, The Rutgers Symphony Orchestra.
Pas Musique introduced him a whole new kind of music making – one based on pure expression and texture. Inspirations include Autechre, Flying Lotus, Nosaj thing, and Sufjan Stevens.
The distinctive textures of analog synths, home-made digital instruments and fx, theremins, and field recordings lavish his debut release, “What´s The Use?” on Alrealon Musique, out 2014, which features cameos and co-writing from Rachel Mason, Trinitron, and ex-Lumineers Drummer, Jay Van Dyke.
TheUse has performed live on WFMU, and his playing and production can be heard on over 30 releases, including those released by Vice (Rachel Mason), The Wire Tapper (Pas Musique), Soleil Moon (Pas Musique / Rapoon) and more.
