Body & Soul (nasca, urban art forms) | AUT
Body & Soul was formed in 2003 by Robert Stefan and Michael Willer. They have both been involved with music from birth and over the years they took part in many different projects from rock bands to classic orchestras, from djing to event management. In the year 1998, while Robert was working to establish a local dnb scene as a dj and promoter, Michael studied audio-engineering in Vienna. They had known each other for a long time, but it was drumandbass music that made them team up and start working on music together. In 2003, they decided to leave everything behind and put all effort into making dnb tunes. At the end of 2003, Drum&Bass Arena (www.breakbeat.co.uk) put on a huge remix contest with the mighty EZ-rollerz. Without ever having sent out a demo, body&soul decided to participate. Cutting a long story short, after several months the 300.000 visitors of Drum&Bass Arena decided that the body&soul remix was the winner out of over 1.000 that had been sent in from all over the world. The EZ-rollerz themselves were well into the remix too and they released the remake of “Roadrunner” on their well respected Intercom Recordings. This has drawn a lot of attention to body&soul and they kept working to develop their sound. In 2004, the boys were signed to the drumandbass flagship label Bad Company Recordings and they started to showcase what body&soul sound is all about: big emotional moods with epic breakdowns and brutal bass, yet very melodic and musical. Slated by many for being too complex and not enough true to the dancefloor, but worshipped by those into deep, dark and trancey electronic music, the boys continue to shape their musical profile, subtly gaining more and more attention by heads around the globe. With their new band project “17th Boulevard” and some heavy duty remixes on the way, body&soul show no sign of easing off the accelerator any time soon.
