Andrew Ferris is an folk/rock singer-songwriter from The Forest of Dean in England. Known for his uplifting, heartening lyrics and catchy pop melodies, Andrew has recently completed a UK tour, finishing up at the Google headquarters in London.
Ferris began playing music in his teens and after running of out friends to play in bands with, began performing as a solo artist. Andrew’s live backing band, “The Fallen Men” features fellow multi-instrumentalists, Matt Stradling and Matt Kibble.
Andrew’s music falls somewhere in between folk-rock and indie-pop with his honest approach to lyrics making him a thinking man’s singer-songwriter.
Life has given Andrew something to write about – “My songs are life-stories set to music”, Explains Ferris. “I’ve taken a somewhat unconventional path in life and I have plenty of tales to tell”.
In 2009 Andrew busked his way across Europe, surviving on only the the money he made from singing on the streets. This adventure proved to be the perfect melting pot for Andrew’s infectious melodies and simple yet powerful lyrics.
Building on 2012’s “Red Lorry EP”, His debut album – “Yellow Lorry” touches on many styles and inspirations, recalling artists such as The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel. The songs occasionally reveal a political edge but have their hearts firmly seated in entertaining pop-music.
A Decide-It-Yourself musician, Andrew is a strong supporter of independent music. “The large record companies are desperately churning out low-grade puppet-pop while the once subordinate musicians are now in charge; gaining new skills and reaching new audiences thanks to the power of the internet and technology.”
