ROUNDHEAD aka BIG ROUNDZ aka the original Monstershack founder.
ROUNDHEAD emerged on the dancehall scene in 1992 with the song ‚Bust weh‘ on the Colin Fat label. Previously he had voiced few 7′ like his first one ‚Wickedest sound‘ , but it was ‚Bust weh‘ that made him well known on the scene. For a while he was also called the badbreed pastor, a nickname he played with during song intros. He voiced many big hit tunes in that era until about roughly 1995, when dancehall experienced a slower phase. He then kind of reinvented the game with his clearly identifiable deep voice, tunes like ‚Look good‘ and especially the absolute killer tune ‚Probably you never heard‘ and later in 1997 ‚Flavour‘ and ‚Monster trace‘ were groundbreakers for a new creative stage in dancehall.
One of his big hits was also ‚Weed is life‘ a topic that is very present in his lyrics and life style, hence another alias ‚the Hemperor‘. ROUNDHEAD always stayed close to the developments on the US hiphop/rap scene, ranging from collabos with the likes of Cocoa Brovas ‚Weed is life remix‘ to bigger names like RickRoss on ‚Mafia music‘ of the Mastermind LP.
BIGROUNDZ has to be seen as a unique artist, style and lyrics wise, many times setting trends in dancehall’s lyrics talk.The level and way he brings forth lyrics and uses word parables has not been reached by other artists. When he formed the crew/group Monstershack, later Monster Hemphigher, he enjoyed groundbreaking success with the US hiphop magazine VIBE covering the review of the LP ‚Monster Party‘ and praising it in the highest manner. It is BIGROUNDZ first time in Vienna and we can expect a historical event mixed with a lot a hemp connoisseur vibes.
