In 1981, the german band No More landed the underground hit Suicide Commando, which in the following years spread internationally regardless of genre and scene.
When the band started in 1979 they were influenced by New Wave and No Wave bands like Wire, PIL, Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire, Lydia Lunch, Stranglers, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus and Ultravox with John Foxx (just name a few). But they also were (and still are) influenced by (even) older artists like Velvet Underground, Roxy Music, Bowie, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk and Neu!
