The Silver Pieces began with the combination of Irish Singer / Songwriter / Musician, Declan Johnston and South African Producer / Drummer, Derek Garnett. The duo first came into contact in 2011 in Austria of all places.
Their like-mindedness for “real music” and common thirst for creating something unforced, without borders & most importantly fun led them to commence recording together in Garnett’s home studio in Lower Austria in the Autumn of 2012.
In the Spring of 2014 Bass Guitarist Rob Taylor from Bolton, England joined the group, bringing with him a very distinct groove and style which could be said was “the missing piece of silver”.
The sound is in no way a retro throw-back to any specific era and does not lean toward any specific genre, except of course the silver one. It is more a continuation of something that once was but got led astray. You have to be your own biggest fan before anyone is gonna call themselves a fan of yours. No TV panel judge will make or break you, you already exist, and your doin’ grand, covered in shiny Silver Pieces.
