Kaytranada:
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, this young beat producer and DJ is no stranger to production. Starting to produce in his early teens, and now at only 21 years of age, Kaytranada has the work ethic of a seasoned producer. His influences come from all sorts of genres. Genres between Disco, Hip-‐Hop, House, and R&B. As of the last year, he has made a name for himself through producing R&B influenced bootleg remixes from artists such as Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, TLC, Danny  Brown, and Teedra Moses. Combined, these remixes have received over 1.5 million plays on Soundcloud and YouTube. Kaytranada’s impressive lineup of tracks got even better this past February with the 8 track EP on HW&W Recording’s (US)/Jakarta (EU), “KAYTRA TODO”. Featuring a track with Los Angeles singer and songwriter JMSN, this EP has received attention from blogs and press all over the world. This past summer he preformed at Osheaga Music Festival, then followed it with a performance alongside Lunice (TNGHT) at Igloofest in the winter. Lunice has shown support for the young producer; including “Holy Hole Inna Donut,” featured on his most recent BBC Radio 1Xtra Mix. Many other industry tastemakers have given Kaytranda the nod, including Benji B, Rinse Fm’s Lily Mercer, and Brodinski. Keep an eye out for Kaytranada as he plans to take his progressive, and innovative production to fans all over the world.

Lexis:
Lexis is one of the most eclectic minded DJ’s out there and is absolutely obsessed with music research; always excited to discover  future classics & forgotten treasures. He founded MusicIsMySanctuary.com in 2007 and has now seen it grow into one of the go-to websites for lovers of next level music. It now reaches over 50,000 people a month from all over the world. He also started the 24HoursofVinyl.com project, a day long live broadcast featuring only vinyl records which is turning into a worldwide adventure. His monthly radio show has been steadily growing over the past years and every episode is now listened to by approximately 10,000 people. His last few shows managed to make it to #1 on the very popular Mixcloud.com platform who also voted his show as one of the best. Last year, the 5th anniversary of “MIMS” was presented by the Montreal Jazz Fest on the very last night of the festival in front of a packed house. In just the past few years, Lexis has shared the stage with lots of artists from very different scenes: Beats and Hip-Hop stuff with great people like Blu, Slum Village, Onra, Samiyam, Dibiase, Teebs, Waajeed. More organic and soulful music with people like Floating Points, DJ Vadim, Quantic, Mark De Clive-Lowe, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Nickodemus, Dam-Funk. House & Techno with people like Julio Bashmore, Mary Anne Hobbs, Roska, Mount Kimbie, El-B, Zed Bias, Ramadanman and others

The ‚Montreal sound‘ is a hard one to define but what makes it truly unique is the fact that it’s equally influenced by the US and Europe. The mix of French, English, Haitian, Jamaican, Portuguese and other cultures in the city all contribute to create that distinct sound which borrows elements from worldwide influences and merges them into something unique. These past few years MTL’s underground rep has been on the rise with artists like Jacques Greene, Lunice, Kenlo Craqnuques but now also with new school players like Kaytranada, Tommy Kruise, Iron Galaxy and Hesk. Whether it’s buried under 2 feet of snow  or in the beautiful summers Montreal always has tons of quality events like Mutek, Montreal Jazz Fest, Igloofest, Piknic Electronik.
