TLM goes Disco again at the Roxy:

G.I. Disco is based on the idea of bringing back the soul/disco music brought to Germany during the 70s & 80s by stationed U.S. Army back at that time.
Most of the U.S. military bases in West Germany during the Cold War had their own clubs and the G.I.s spinning there spread their black music to the surrounding cities and clubs.
They brought many new records and musical styles to Germany unheard of before then.
Most of these places where ethnic melting pots where African-American G.I.s mingled with local German women. The only German men in these clubs came mainly for the music and were just happy to gain admission!  This simultaneously offered the Afro-German community a home where they could be part of the majority.for at least a night.
Of course, this scene influenced a whole bunch of DJs, musicians and producers who are playing a leading role in Germanys club music today.
Kalle Kuts & Daniel W. Best were amongst those young Germans and now they are bringing back the feeling by droppin regular clubnights in Berlin and a great compilation out now on BBE Records.
