The Standstills

Ein weiser Mann hat einmal gesagt: „It’s long way to the top if you want to Rock ‘n’ Roll!“ Für The Lazys ist es eher ein langer Weg über zwei Kontinente und den größten Ozean der Welt. Aber seit die australischen Rocker an der kanadischen Küste gelandet sind, haben sie sich schnell einen Namen gemacht. Diese gewonnene Aufmerksamkeit wird nun gänzlich auf das neue Album „Tropical Hazards“ gerichtet.
Als Co-Writer mit dabei ist Ian D’Sa (Billy Talent) und produziert wurde es von von D’Sa und Eric Ratz (Big Wreck, Danko Jones, Monster Truck). „Tropical Hazards“ rockt genau dort weiter, wo The Lazys 2015 mit ihren Top-10-Singles „Shake it Like You Mean It“ und „Black Rebel“ aufgehört haben.
Durch frühere Tourneen mit Bands wie The Trews und Danko Jones wurden The Lazys schnell für ihre laute, energiegeladene Performance bekannt. Bei der Tour zu „Tropical Hazards“ machen sie also das, was sie am besten können: Stimmung! “I want people to leave feeling entertained,” sagt Gitarrist Matty. “I want them to leave thinking that was the best rock show they’ve ever seen. To leave sweaty, dirty, horny!”
The Standstills
Described as The White Stripes body slammed by Queens Of The Stone Age, The Standstills have broadening their horizon and defining their craft with their new unreleased full length album “Badlands”. “It’s guitar driven, outlaw rock and roll” lead singer and guitarist Jonny Fox declares. Drummer and singer Renee Couture defines the record as “If wild west Clint Eastwood and Belle Starr had a rock and roll baby”. The Canadian rock duo is already off to a great start with their latest singles including “Wild” which reached #7 on Active Rock radio. And was the fastest charting top ten in eOne Canada history. The track is a hypnotic high-powered number with a magnetic and gritty guitar lick, featuring Couture’s mountainous drums all topped with Fox’s dynamic and vigorous vocal. The Standstills have paired these elements seductively with psychedelic imagery and video’s, putting this duo in the sights of trend setters and rockers alike.

This record follows the success of their 2015 EP “From The Devil’s Porch featuring “Orleans” which reached #4 on active rock radio charts in Canada, with “Rise of the Fall” top 10 and “Shotgun” top 15. As a result, The Standstills were awarded Best New Rock Group at the Canadian Radio Music Awards and iTunes named it one of the best rock albums of the year.

Following there first release the band toured across Canada at various festivals, clubs and arena’s as support for Eagles of Death Metal, Pop Evil, Billy Talent, Theory of a Deadman, Seether and many more. Most recently the band was invited to join Sebastian Bach on his 2018 North American tour throughout Canada and the United States and followed it with a twenty-two date Canadian co-headline tour. “We are really grateful to all the fans who see us live to make our show’s unforgettable.  Rock and roll is alive, we see it on stage in the excitement of fans”. Says Couture.

In 2018, the band also received over one million streams on Spotify and performed a sold out show at Reeperbahn festival held in Hamburg Germany.  In early 2019 The Standstills are invited back to Europe with rockers The Lazy’s for a sixteen date tour across eight countries.

“Badlands”, the bands first full length under eOne Music is planned for release in 2019.
