Greek dj/producer Mihalis Safras has a long history in the electronic music scene, becoming one of his home country’s most celebrated DJs. Over the course of the decade he has tirelessly established himself as one of the most hard working artists, appearing on at least a dozen 12-inches last year alone.
Mixmag said: “The name of Mihalis Safras became practically synonymous with contemporary tech-dance music.“
The calibre of Mihalis‘ studio output uniquely falls between these two genres. Ever since his early studio outputs, his elongated, aching yet versatile and percussive tech-house tracks have made their way onto the celebrated labels of Great Stuff, Soma, Trapez, Saved, Snatch and of course Material. Whilst having remixed a variety of well known artists like: Dubfire, Mark Broom, Gregor Tresher, Mihalis has been generating room-filling sound-scapes as well as determined and driving techno, all combined with the most moving of musical melodies.
It’s also worth mentioning that many of his productions have been used for the world famous, official compilations for Love Parade, Pacha, DJM & Space Ibiza.
As the mastermind behind the Material and Saf series, his unrestricted and creative productions has appeared alongside an impressive list of artists including Sven Vath, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and many more, not to mention producing the massive release ‚La Samba‘ that has lit up Ibiza floors and has since been licensed for an Apple iPhone campaign. Both in the studio and in the DJ booth, Mihalis demonstrates the natural absorbed characteristics of one of the leading underground techno talents.
In addition to his musical output, as from 2011, Mihalis has been writing reviews and articles for various music magazines worldwide, such as M&L and Freeze.
Mihalis is a natural and perfected DJ, capable of playing with a whole spectrum of style in magical, liquid sets that enhance the power and impact of dance music, all of which is amply demonstrated in his excellent mix CD
