ACROSS THE WORLD… UNDER EUROPEAN STARS

In April 2007 Melbourne’s Ned Collette made his first appearance on a Europeanstage, playing to 1300 people in Dublin’s Olympia theatre. That was opening for Joanna Newsom. Now Collette comes back for his fourth tour of Europe, and his second bringing along his band, Wirewalker.
Wirewalker is an anomaly – part the frame for a wistful and subtle songwriter, part the severe and furious howl of rock and roll. Their new album ‘Over The Stones, Under The Stars’ is their first written and recorded entirely as a band, but Ned’s third under his own name. Written in Glasgow, recorded in the fire ravaged Australian countryside, mixed in Brooklyn NY with Joel Hamilton (Blakroc, Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Nina Simone) and released to great acclaim around the globe, the album translates live into an immediate and above all honest experience – one that is about nothing but the songs and the sharing of ideas and music. This may not be fashionable, but it’s not full of bullshit either. It is real.
The musician’s life becomes defined and determined by the course the music takes. The music takes on a life of its own, beating its own path and forging its own identity out in the world. Ned Collette’s music has led him around the world, in and out of late night bars and dark venues, sometimes accompanied by his extraordinary band, sometimes alone – always with his solitary vision.
