(…) an LP of lacerating, full-throttle street punk from the MUSCLE BARBIE cru. Here the impish messthetics of HM are generally cut loose in favour of route-one demolition, but this lot are too clever to play it totally straight: ‘Talker’ opens with intricate, atonal guitar duelling that sounds more Downtown ’81 than UK82, before tensing into a two-chord pile-drive that surely owes more to the Swellies’ ‘Midget Submarines’ than it does to Discharge. For the most part though, what ye get is high-velocity, brutally economical one-two stomp: tunes like ‘Homesick’ (reminding you that whatever else might change, punks will always struggle to find safe and sanitary digs) and ‘Competition’ stand out especially as anthems-in-waiting…timeless grunts of disaffection updated to suit the peculiar modern malaise.
