Best known for his twenty year plus working relationship with PJ HARVEY up to and including the 2011 Mercury Prize winning album ‘Let England Shake’ ; JOHN PARISH is also an accomplished film composer, solo artist, producer and collaborator , contributing to albums by among others, EELS, SPARKLEHORSE, 16 HORSEPOWER, ARNO, TRACY CHAPMAN, and HOWE GELB/GIANT SAND.

His first film was ROSIE (Belgium, Dir. Patrice Toye 1998) and his score won the Jury Special Appreciation Award at the 1999 Bonn International Film & TV Music Biennale. Since then Parish has written scores for television and stage as well as a further six full length feature films, the most recent being Swiss French director Ursula Meier’s SISTER (Orig. title L’Enfant D’en Haut) which won the special Silver Bear at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival, is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Oscars and which has just been released in the UK , the US , and Europe.

SCREENPLAY is drawn from several Parish scores including much of the music from ‘Sister’ and from Patrice Toye’s new film ‘Little Black Spiders’. In 2013, JOHN PARISH BAND will be performing Screenplay in front of a live projected montage of scenes and images from some of the films.
Parish has just finished producing the new album by Malian singer/songwriter ROKIA TRAORÉ, and is currently in Athens, Greece performing live his score for KIRERU, a collaboration with ROOTLESSROOT DANCE COMPANY at Onassis Cultural Centre.

‚Marta Collica is an Italian songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist. Marta’s voice is
unmistakeable – beautifully emotive, dark and dreamy with a smouldering intensity.
Now based in Berlin, she is member of the John Parish Band (composer and producer for
PJ Harvey, Eels, Tracy Chapman etc) and is also well known for her long term collaboration
with Australian songwriter Hugo Race with their duo, Sepiatone.

Marta plays guitar, keyboards and percussion with an original style that combines minimal
arrangements – seemingly delicate but also distorted, with an undercurrent of psychedelia.‘ C B
