DEEP A is the latest conceptual identity incarnated by the swiss-french electronic musician and DJ, commonly known as Alex. Officially IT Engineer, Alex has been spending most of his free time into music since childhood, you’ll find this bird digging into sounds, nested in his studio-room, either insanely collecting the freshest tunes dropped on a growing list of preferred labels, or by designing his own sounds, composing tracks or organizing events.
 
Technically, Alex has gone through a large variety of styles, practices and instruments. The first musical expression came on strings, Alex studied violin at the Conservatoire de Lausanne during a few early years, which revealed as being a smart cover to release his true sick creativity onto a mini Casio synth back home. Since then Alex kept experimenting with hardware and computers as he grew up, analog and numeric, soft and hard, there isn’t a way or a technology Alex hasn’t at least tried. The sounds and features of devices such as Virus TI, Alesis Andromeda, Moog Voyager, Korg MS-20, Roland Grooveboxes associated with the power of computers, programs and plugins, unleashed an exotic burst of inspiration in Alex way of living the music, through machines, buttons and sequencers.
 
Upon being hypnotized by the life of the rhythm in the generations of Detroit DJ’s (Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin..), Alex decided to practice drums. The wild and intensive percussion lessons took during teenage years with the infamous Swiss prodigy Cyril Regamey, opened his creativity up to more structural patterns, leading to deepen his focus on his own compositions.
 
Next to his experiments with voice and keyboards in a Trip-Hop and live House bands in Lausanne, from his musician experience and perspective, Alex came to get progressively sucked up by the exploding club scene in Europe. The gradual conversion to a proper 4/4 deep basis came along with a fierce passion for advanced electronic music, induced by the arty local scene in Lausanne and some amazing producer friends – you’ll meet Luciano, Adriatique, Digitaline, Animal Trainer… – and countless trips to Zurich, Barcelona and Berlin, crawling clubs, festivals and music shops, seeking ecstasy and the freshest grooves on Earth.
 
Alex’ DJ carrier came late, taken apart by numerous other projects, and as primarily musician, rather disregarding the activity of DJ’s judged as being almost “fake” – it’s only at over 30 years old, that Alex unveiled his true interest into the mix: making Music with music. Thanks to producers like Ricardo Villalobos or Stimming who revealed part of the Art rushing under the Beat.
 
DEEP A style is an endless research field sparing its roots into Deep House, Minimal, Techno and Electro. The radical underground flavor of his mixes brings a first and sharp selection of listeners, there’s no room for compromise here, let’s be honest – DEEP A dives into the sound like a kamikaze would do into war.
 
Since 2010, DEEP A played in various top venues in Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland or India, and shared the decks with a couple of acclaimed artists featuring Amon Tobin, Akufen, Gesaffelstein, Luigi Madonna, Underworld, Akme, Bastard Love, Frankov, Bono Goldbaum, The Hacker, Clark and many more.
