To mark the year anniversary of their collaborative EP, Brum pair Jaykae & Dapz On The Map have shot and released a video via P110 for the project’s title and opening track, ‘Froggy’. The Thomas Mellor-produced anthem, which was remixed by Ghetts and Devlin last year, is a personal favourite of ours – it made our 2014 singles list – so this video is definitely not too late for us. In more good news, a follow-up EP from the artists has been announced by Jaykae on Twitter. Join us in celebrating by pressing play above and bumping this like it’s still new!

(info:grimeforum ) The fact that Dapz soon-to-be meteoric rise in the mainstream consciousness can be traced to a handful of online YouTube videos speaks volumes on the influence of good writing skill and the responses from the online grime community.
Dapz (aka DAPZ ON THE MAP) is part of the next generation of great urban grime mc/singers. Born in the Perry Barr, Birmingham, he grew up with Caribbean influences — from the bashment sounds of Sean Paul and Beanie Man to the new sounds of underground grime and rap of Chipmunk and Skepta. He combines it all into his own neo-soulful sound, which he developed in Wolverhampton studio with the guidance from friend/producer DJ Apostle.
His first major achievement in the industry was working with Griminal (Universal Records) and completing his 13 track mix tape “Tempo Talented” (2009). It was placed it on the internet for free download and is still being played today.
His excellent sound is truly unique, with many members from the Midlands’s elite group of MCs such as Stayfresh, Lady Leshurr and Trilla, all featuring his voice on albums and mix tapes. Dapz songs touch on various issues, both personal and political. He talks of the struggle aspiring artist go through trying to be a father and a musician. Soft-spoken yet intense in his passion for words and music, Dapz is a commanding presence well beyond his years, so it’s no surprise that he’s won over audiences around the UK.
Already a well known MC in Birmingham, and having performed on many of the major internet mc’ing sessions and music festivals for the past five years, Dapz receives rave reviews and feedback from his fans. Dapz is now ready for the big stage and make the world hear what he has to say.
One of the Midlands foremost performers, Dapz is about to release his second solo mix tape titled “Bob and Weave” during the coming months coinciding with a UK radio tour to promote it. On this one he has gone from just mc’ing to singing and co-producing most of the tracks himself with a few select collaborators. The result is a much more varied and tighter sounding record than his first one, but it’s still nowhere close to hearing him live. His professionalism coupled with his talent and stage presence, makes any showcase one you will thoroughly enjoy.
