Ryder Havdale is no stranger to the road: from 2007 to 2013 he embarked on countless international tours with his former project, the Mohawk Lodge, taking him across Canada, the UK, the U.S., Europe and Australia. Now, after living in a self-imposed year-long exile in Berlin he exchanged his guitars for synths and his band for machines. Havdale channels the punk rock approach that fuelled the Mohawk Lodge’s elemental desire for touring, and experimentally, injects it into the pounding, electronic rhythms of European techno and krautrock. The result is a rhythmic, complex and layered musical texture that is technological and futuristic, but at its heart, also very human.
RYDER’s newest release, BERLIN, delivers the same songwriting, mobility, and energy made famous by the Mohawk Lodge in a bold new format. This is the dawn of a new era for this well-loved Canadian artist, driven by the call of the road and the kinds of challenges that only touring enables you to overcome.
The following tracks will be re-invented, re-mixed and re-recorded live on this upcoming tour, and the end result will be the final version of BERLIN.

Wer kennt es nicht, dieses aufgekratzte Gefühl, nachdem man gerade eine seiner Lieblingsbands live auf der Bühne gesehen, mitgegröhlt, getanzt und das ein oder andere Bier getrunken hat. Doch dann kommt es dicke: Die Zugabe vergeht viel zu schnell, das Licht geht an und mehr oder weniger freundliche Securities, die gemeinsam eine roten Schnur spannen, um die Zuschauer wie Vieh aus dem Stall zu treiben, geleiten euch ins Freie. Wohin jetzt mit der ganzen Motivation und Tanzlust? Am besten ab ins nahe gelegene Loft, denn dort geht „After the Show“ erst richtig die Party los. Zu passender Musik wird bis in die Puppen gefeiert.
