Few artists have managed to leave such a lasting impression in such a short time as Davina Michelle. With her unique voice, powerful live performances, and empowering songs, she has become one of the most successful Dutch artists of her generation – and is now rapidly conquering the international stage.
Breakthrough and early success
Born in 1995 as Michelle Davina Hoogendoorn, Davina Michelle first broke through in 2017 when her cover of P!NK’s What About Us went viral. P!NK herself praised the performance, saying: “Now I know how it’s supposed to sound.” Not long after, Davina set a Dutch Top 40 record with her rendition of Glen Faria’s Duurt Te Lang: eleven consecutive weeks at number one, five times platinum, and the title of most successful female artist in Dutch Top 40 history.
Hits, albums, and shows
Since then, she has released numerous hits, including Skyward, Better Now, Beat Me (official song for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Zandvoort), and the emotional number one single 17 Miljoen Mensen, which became a symbol of unity in the Netherlands during the pandemic.
Her debut album My Own World (2020) went gold, followed by the critically acclaimed Higher (2024), featuring tracks such as Heartbeat, I SAID NO SIR, and her collaboration with Armin van Buuren on Hold On.
On stage, Davina has built a reputation as one of the most spectacular live acts in the Netherlands. She sold out the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena twice with her HYPER shows (2022), appeared at major festivals such as Pinkpop, and performed for an audience of 183 million during the Eurovision Song Contest interval act in 2021 with Sweet Water. Internationally, she has been invited as a special guest for Maroon 5 in Lisbon and Berlin, and supported both Robbie Williams and P!NK – including a show for 50,000 people at Malieveld in The Hague.
New steps: international tours
In 2024/2025, Davina expanded her horizon with the Higher Tour, bringing her to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Poland – the latter two being countries where she performed her own shows for the very first time.
What A Woman – a new chapter
In the Fall of 2025, Davina Michelle released her brand-new single What A Woman. The track is a powerful, uplifting anthem that celebrates the intelligence, resilience, and versatility of women, turning stereotypes into symbols of strength and pride. The song hit European radio stations in many new countries including Sweden, France and Italy. Davina Michelle also performed on “The Voice of Poland”.
The follow-up single, “Still Champagne”, is accompanied by the announcement of a huge European tour that will take place in the Fall of 2026, including many new countries where Davina so far has not performed yet.
With these releases, Davina proves once again that she is not only an extraordinary vocalist and performer, but also an artist who translates important social themes into music that inspires and connects. Davina Michelle continues to evolve, reinvent, and push boundaries – proving time and again that the Netherlands is no longer big enough for her talent.
