Aerodrome Festival bringing in the big names:
Linkin Park, Simple Plan, Machine Gun Kelly, Enter Shikari and Royal Republic

The lineup for the 4th Aerodrome Festival, which in past years has brought us acts like Metallica, System of a Down and Limp Bizkit, is nearly complete. This year will be no different!

Festival organizers report that the already confirmed Linkin Park, returning to Prague after a decade, will be joined by another four bands very popular with Czech audiences: Simple Plan, Machine Gun Kelly alias MGK, Enter Shikari and Royal Republic.

Canadian group Simple Plan have released five studio albums over nearly twenty years, bringing them more than thirty nominations and twelve wins at prestigious musical awards such as the Juno Awards, MTV, NRJ and Teen Choice Awards. Their singles regularly top radio charts, feature in movies (see Disney’s Prom), and play at such prominent events as the closing ceremony for the Winter Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver.

One of the hottest names on the American hip-hop scene right now is coming to the Czech Republic for the festival again this year – Richard Colson Baker, known as Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) due to his rapid-fire rap delivery. He is currently dominating the hip-hop charts (both his albums, Lace Up and General Admission, hit the top 10 albums on Billboard), but the soundtrack for his adolescence and early career were mainly punk and rock groups such as Limp Bizkit, Guns N’ Roses and Blink-182. MGK’s playlist often features Kid Rock and covers of Rise Against and Blink-182, which he also regularly plays at his explosive live shows.

The UK’s Enter Shikari have won hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, and the Czech Republic is no exception. Their debut album Take to the Skies (released in 2007) combined two seemingly incompatible elements, trance and hardcore, bringing them – among other things – a NME award for musical innovation. They are now often recognized as pioneers of “electronicore”. This four-album quartet acknowledges a highly eclectic mix of musical influences ranging from The Prodigy, Sick of It All, Rage Against the Machine, The Beatles and Stravinsky. Enter Shikari are also known for their extremely energetic live sets, which regularly bring Czech audiences to their feet.

Swedish Royal Republic are often compared to older Swedish group The Hives. Their modern take on rock ’n’ roll has featured in four albums so far, and although they first came to play in the Czech Republic for their fourth anniversary in 2011, today their electrifying live performances are so popular here that every concert is hopelessly sold out.

Linkin Park, Simple Plan, MGK, Enter Shikari and Royal Republic will be joined in the next month or so by another name to kick off the whole almost 10-hour marathon on June 11 at the Letňany Airport.

Tickets to the Aerodrome Festival are available exclusively through Ticketportal.
