Hunee is a good eater. He comes from a grey and boring city, where heavy industrialization and green forests go hand in hand. In his teenage years, he used to colour this environment with rap and soul music. Now being a Berlin resident for almost ten years – he eats bumpin’ disco for breakfast, heats up deep jackin’ music for lunch and slows it soulfully down for dinner. In the night he prefers to spend his time cookin a special meal on the turntables. He is a good swimmer too – when he’s out of the water, he makes records for labels like feel music, w.t. records, internasjonal and retreat.

Robert Hood makes minimal Detroit techno with an emphasis on soul and experimentation over flash and popularity. Having recorded for Metroplex, as well as the Austrian Cheap label and Jeff Mills‘ Axis label. Hood started Hardwax in 1991 (Robert Hood’s first label prior to forming M-Plant) and also owns and operates the M-Plant imprint (including the two sublabels Drama and Duet) through which he has released the bulk of his solo material. Hood was a founding member, along with Jeff Mills and Mike Banks, of the Underground Resistance label, whose influential releases throughout the early and mid ’90s helped change the face of modern Detroit techno and sparked a creative renaissance. Infusing elements of acid and industrial into a potent blend of Chicago house and Detroit techno, UR’s aesthetic project and militant business philosophy were (and remain) singular commitments in underground techno. Hood left Detroit (and UR) with Jeff Mills in 1992, setting up shop in New York and recording a series of 12″ EPs. Through the mid ’90s, Hood has focused on his solo work, setting up M-Plant in 1994 and releasing singles such as „Internal Empire“, „Music Data“ and „Moveable Parts“. Although his desire to remain underground has been replaced by an urge to reach a wider audience, Hood remains fiercely critical of artistic and economic movements destructive to inner-city communities and has combined his musical enterprises with outreach and social activist ends. His debut Peacefrog album „Point Blank“ took Hood’s hypnotic minimalism to entirely new depths and territories, whilst his latest album „Wire To Wire“ takes his productions onto new levels of musicality and sophistication within the world of electronic music.

Dyed Soundorom had an unusual entrée into dance music. The owner of infamous Paris nightspot Les Bain Douches spotted something in the hyper, perma-smiling party kid and approached him with a request: “he wanted me to put on a party with an underground sound,” says Dyed with a grin. And that is what he has been doing ever since – as a promoter, DJ and especially as a gifted producer.Dyed is as adept at juggling beats as he was dribbling basketballs, and he approaches every club with the verve and energy of an athlete rushing into competition. From the cutting edge dancefloors of Batofar and the Rex Club in Paris, his DJ career has gone global.
As house or techno fads pass through, you can rely on a sect of underground purists to keep the constant flow of quality, resisting the fluctuating electronic trends and persisting with what theybelieve in. One of those purists is Seuil, the genuine article, a lover of German minimal and warm USdeep house, whose dedication to his favourite styles has been unrelenting. Seuil’s philosophy, or rather passion, is vinyl and vinyl-only, which he aims to support through both his label output and as a DJ. Behind the decks he is a master of groovy, subtle sounds, with his sets moving through micro, to deep, to even a little UK break house.
